MERIZO HIGHWAY TO BE RENAMED TO HONOR THE SEVEN (7) HEROES OF MALESSO WHO SAVED THE VILLAGE FROM TOTAL MASSACRE

The signing of Bill 303-36 by the Governor of Guam is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 1:30 pm at the Large Conference Room, Governor’s Complex in Adelup. For many years, Joaquin Nangauta Naputi, Son of War Hero Juan Acfalle Naputi and direct nephew of Mariano and Jose Nangauta (mother’s two brothers) sought to have these seven (7) heroes recognized for their courage, valor and heroic actions for killing the Japanese, thus preventing a total massacre of the people of Malesso. These seven (7) men risked their lives and put the Guam Hymn into play, “Fanogghe CHamoru put I Tanota.” Malesso is the only village liberated by the villagers themselves and not by the U.S. Armed Forces. Bill 303-36 recognizes these men and puts a daily visual reminder to all who traverse this road of the heroic actions taken by these seven (7) heroes of Malesso.

For more information, please call Joaquin Nangauta Naputi at (671) 858-8485, (671) 685-6621 or email jnaputi@hotmail.com.
